Chapter 2

"Hey,look!It's the Holland daughter!"

"Geez,why's she here?Such a bother."

"Uh..what's wrong with that petite girl?"

"Huh,don't ask me anything about her.Her story is too disgusting to be told."

Anna sighed as she walked by a group of old women who were trashtalking her.Taking a deep breath silently,she turned around to face the group and forced a smile."Anyways,ma'am,the sky is lovely today isn't it?Better cherish this moment or you'll miss it."

The group remained quiet for a second,before they displayed their disgusted expression on their face."What a creep.Just like her parents."said one of the women.

"Yeah,let's just go.The view suddenly changed worse after her appearance."And so,the group of women let,leaving Anna who was still smiling.Her smile immediately dropped once the women were out of her field of view.The tears that she held back a while ago was finally released,but Anna instantly brushed it away.

"Let them talk bad things about us.They do this because they don't know the depths of our story.Be strong..because one day we will show them our true colors.Yes,we never win..but we will someday."

Her deceased parents' words rang in her head.Her parents died for some unknown reason.Anna heard rumours here and there,but she can't tell which one was true because she didn't even know why did her parents died.The only thing that she remember was one of her neighbour came to her and told her that her parents were dead when she was ten.Since that day,she decided to live on her own,which caused her to became poor.

"...I'm not staying here." The poor girl sniffed."It's not like I have any purpose to stay here anyways."Anna said as she lumbered towards a wall that protected the village from warefox attacks.The blonde-haired girl stacked a few unused sacks full with crops that she found and climed them to get over the wall.

Anna was born with curiosity.Since she was a kid,everybody had told her to not go beyond the walls,or she would get herself killed by starving warefoxes.Anna was first,of course,scared when she heard those stories.However,her thoughts towards warefoxes changed when her parents always took her and sneaked outside the walls.They then took her to a cave where nobody can find them.The three of them would do wholesome activities such as picnicking and camping.

The best thing was that there's no warefoxes around everytime they went outside,and that made Anna started to wonder-why do people kill warefoxes?She denied the fact that warefoxes would eat her,even though her doubts always took over her.Nonetheless,Anna still believed that her dream of befriending a warefox can be realized.

Once she got there,she sat down,took out her notebook and pencil from her bag that she bought along and started drawing.She loved drawing,especially warefoxes.Her father showed her a picture of a warefox that he took long time ago.After a while,she finished her drawing and was satisfied."What a nice therapy for depression!Haha!"Anna thought to herself,trying to cheer herself up with a lame joke.

Anna then closed her notebook and started to daydream."Hmm..I wonder what does it feels to see a real warefox with my own eyes..That'll be super cool-"

"I SAID SHUT UP!!!"

Anna was startled to hear a scream echoed through the cave.She gulped as she looked to her left.'That voice...came from that way.."She thought.Being the curious girl she was,Anna got up and tip-toed towards the voice.Her mind kept telling her to stop,but she was too stubborn to listen to her own mind.

She countinued on walking,until she almost reached the opposite side of the cave.There,she saw a sillouhette with weird triangles at it's head.As brave as a lion,she walked towards the person.The further she went,the better her view was."Oh..it's just a random guy with..blue hair..and cat ears?"She thought to herself.

Anna kneelt right in front of the guy and had no idea what to say.Unconciously,she blurted out an "I didn't say anything?"

Anna then felt herself panicking after she realized what she had said.'Oh no,oh no..this guy will look up to see me and feel guilty for saying that!What should I do,what should I do-'

Anna was stupefied to see that the guy did looked up.But that's not the exact point.What made Anna surprised was that she was talking to a real warefox!Anna tried to control herself from fangirling.

"S-sorry.I didn't know that there's someone else..here."The warefox apologized and wiped his tears.He looked away in embarassment.

Anna was still surprised,but decided to reply to avoid an awkard situation."N-Nah,it's fine!Definitely fine!It's just us here!"replied Anna with a cheerful voice,that masked her true emotions."Woa,so you're a real warefox?Splendid!Look at those ears,they are so cute-oh dear,you're bleeding a lot!!Hold on,let me help you!"Anna offered to help as she saw the warefox's injuries.She opened her bag and took out a first aid kit out.

"W-What are you doing?"

"Helping you of course!"Anna giggled."By the way,I'm Anna Holland.Just call me Anna.I'm 16 this year."She introduced herself before she took a cotton pad from her first aid kid and said,"Now stay still!I'm about to wipe the blood from your head.There's too much on your head!What happened..uh.."

"...Luca.Luca Antonio."

"Yeah,Luca!What happened to you?You ran yourself into a tree or something?"

"...I was beaten up."

"WAIT,WHAT?WHO DID THIS TO YOU?TELL ME THEIR NAMES,I'LL DESTROY THEIR LIFE-"

"N-No wait!I-It's fine,just leave them alone."

"..Oh..Okay..S-Sorry for being loud."

"It's alright..Anna."

And the situation became quiet and awkard.Neither Luca nor Anna had something to say.After a few minutes,Anna finished wrapping Luca's injured head."Done!"Anna packed her stuff back in her first aid kit and said,"Are you still hurt?"

"No..thanks.

"Good!"Anna said as her lips were pulled into a smile.Luca looked at Anna as his mind was filled with pure confusion.Anna noticed his confused gaze and chuckled."Hey,Luca.Why are you staring at me like that?You look funny,you know?"She asked.

Luca remained silent before he asked,"Aren't you..afraid of me?"

Anna shrugged."Because I don't think that you're a threat."

"Threat?What if I do eat people?"

Anna chuckled,which made Luca even more confused."You saw me earlier,but you didn't even attack me.I mean,it's pretty obvious,right?"

"Oh.."

"Besides,I think warefoxes are pretty amazing."Anna said as she took a seat next to the boy.Luca looked at her,confused,again."Why?Humans think that we're scary."

A small smile made it's way to Anna's face as she replied,"My parents always bring me here when I was a child to prove that warefoxes aren't dangerous at all.We would do fun stuffs here before we head home quietly by tomorrow morning."Anna's smile suddenly dropped as she countinue her story."Now that my parents weren't here anymore,I can no longer do fun stuffs with anyone anymore."

Luca leant forward as his interest with Anna's story grew bigger."What do you mean?You have friends,right?"

Anna shook her head slowly."No.Everyone hates me for a reason that I don't even know.Since my parents died,rumours spread like wildfire but I don't know which one is right.I..."

Anna almost broke down when Luca touched her shoulder,"You don't need to countinue if you don't want to."

Anna sniffed.She felt relieved to hear his words."Thanks.Besides,Luca..I heard that warefoxes need human blood to gain strength and live.Is it true?"

Luca nodded."Yeah.But I refused to eat a human,so my family and other warefoxes thought that I'm a traitor towards my own kind.That's why I'm lonely and got bullied a lot."

"Thanks for not eating us."Anna joked."Hey..I'd like to help you,so you can gain strength and live as a real warefox.."

Luca looked at the girl and asked,"Huh?What do you mean?"

Anna took a deep breath and countinued."If you're bullied or forced to eat human,find me at this cave.I'll be here everyday.I will feed you with my own blood-"

"What?No!You're crazy!I don't want to kill you!"Luca replied quickly.His eyes widened in horror and shock.'There's no way I'm going to kill a human.Especially her,who threat me well!' Luca thought to himself.

"Whoa,take it easy,Luca!I'm not done talking yet!You don't have to kill me,I'll just have to transfer my blood so that you can drink it without killing me!It's as easy as ABC."Anna explained to Luca,but the boy seemed to hate the idea.

"No.Solid no.You're insane,Anna.You will lose your blood only for my sake!"Luca disapproved.

"Then you want to kill people?Or you want to die from starvation?"Anna asked sarcasticly.

"No..but Anna-"

"My parents once told me that my blood is special because it was something that had been passed down from the Holland ancestors.So I guess I'll be fine."Anna said,but deep inside she's doubting whether she's going to be fine or not.

Luca looked at Anna to see if she was just kidding but she's not.Luca took a deep breath and thought about her offer.Luca sighed softly before said,"Alright,I will.But promise me that you won't die from blood loss in the future."

Anna laughed,which made Luca smiled."Okay,okay,no need to be worried."Anna looked at him and held her hand out for a shake."So...are we friends?"Luca stared at her hand for a second before smilling again and shaked her hand."Yes."

And that's how the lone warefox and cheerful girl became best friends.
